Guess who's got an internship?

ME BABY! ME!

I'll be starting in February at Nomedia. Also my job is pretty awesome, and it pays well. How cool is that?

So I'll be buying an ipod touch soon,  16gb ofcourse. I'm finally joining the cool club, and boy, they need me there.

Well,  I need me there.

I'm joining the workforce. Finally xD

So I finally got a part-time job. And it's even one I like. I'll be the temporary webmaster/developer for Ars Aequi, a juridic publisher. OBJECTION!

Oh sorry, that was my little Phoenix Wright that jumped out.

Now on to the funny business you're used to.

My cat moved in with us, making it officially our cat now. Here's a picture  if you don't believe me:

our cat

Hehe, she's promoted to a lolcat.  How cool.  I also had my birthday, which was nice, and I bought some neat stuff:

Here I am, rocked you like a hurricane

Some stuff for my Wii. No pun intended. I got Guitar Hero, and the Wii Zapper, which both rock.

We also have a christmas tree. OUR christmas tree. There are many like it but this one is ours:

And that's it for this update. Did you enjoy it? I did. Now go out and play.

AMFG NEW WEBSITE!!!11one1!1eleven!!

Finally I have a new webhost! Say hello to www.MichelMaas.com! Sounds a bit more professional than www.MichelMaas.tk right?

Anyway, I'm 23 (and 2 days). The party I gave was pretty cool, were it not that most of my friends came in the afternoon instead of the evening (which I told them :P) I got booz (Johnny Walker Red Label and good ol' Jackie D.) and monniez, which is always nice (donations welcome).

What else happened in the last few weeks... Hmm... Well, our bathroom got pimped up to 2.0. It's pretty nice, I'll make some pics soon.

I also made a new portfolio! This portfolio will be the one I will start my career with, I guess. At the very least it's the one I will start my internship with, if I find an internship that is :P.

I am also working with 2 other blokes at school to build a multi touch table, which is due this Friday. We got a budget from school to knock our socks off with it, and boy, we are. Pics also coming soon :P

Well, I guess that's it for this post. More later, I promise!

Star Trek Cast final --- Sylar is in it :D

For those of you who didn't know, I like Star Trek. I admit it. Not like I am a Trekkie or anything, but I really like the series.

And now on Digg I read the final cast for the new Star Trek movie has been compiled, and I'm liking it. No Shatner! At least not in a leading role. I like the guy but come on, enough is enough. He is 72, time for a change, right?

This is what it will look like, sort of ;)

And I love Zachary Quinto (Sylar from Heroes), I think he is an excellent new actor. With a budget of $150 million dollars, this movie should be rad.

Live long and prosper, rofl.

Save the paddo!

So our brilliant ministers decided that, all of a sudden, Paddo's (magic mushrooms) are dangerous and they made them illegal. Way to go, stupid foreigners.

Thats right. Foreigners. I never heard of any accidents with mushrooms, only from foreigners who don't know how to use them.

So sure, ban them. People will still be selling and buying them, only from illegal sources, from people who can't be trusted, without proper guidance. More deaths can and will follow.

Don't get me wrong, I never used mushrooms and I don't intend to, but the fact that people can be so blind to just ban something and think it will disappear are stupid.

Sigh.

New (small) project

I've started working on a new small project. I wanna make Frogger in Flash 9 with Actionscript 3, just to learn more about game development.

I've uploaded a current version here. Enjoy and check back for updates soon :)

New layout~

As you can see I am using a new layout system , which is made by NikyNik, but modded by myself. I added the ability to put swfs in the banners you see at the top of the page, which also change when you click a style.

I am currently making a portfolio for my school work, and I gotta say it's becoming pretty cool.   The navigation is done, now I am going to make it dynamic, using the techniques I used in FXCMS. I hope to be able to show it to you soon.

Thats it for this update :)

Yes I know.

I know I am a lousy blogger. Sue me.

It's not even my fault. Someone decided to put a mere 24 hours in a day. Why only 24? Everyone knows the night is where it's at. Just take 8 hours from the following day and glue them on the current day. Then... ah never mind, ain't gonna work :(

Anyway, busy for school again. I applied for an intership at MediaMonks and guess what, I got an interview. Woot. Let's hope for the best :)

A new Depp/Burton film will hit the cinema this Christmas, and it's about the legendary (yet fictional(?)) Sweeney Todd. Check it out:

[youtube:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=svP3HsJB5ng]

As for what I am doing, well, currently doing a lot of homework :P  I will show you some stuff when I am done with it. Also, have you seen the Pull tab at the top of the site? Try clicking on it! :P

My new look!

Or, without further ado, also on popular demand, here's my new look:

Bad picture but meh, it'll have to do!

New url coming soon!

I will be hosting my site at a different location from now on, and the url www.axalian.nl will be useless in the next few weeks. Use www.MichelMaas.tk from now on! (Note: I plan on buying my own domain name in the future, but for now, a friend of mine with 30 gigs of hosting space provides me with some room. Thanks Arne!)

Why the change? Well, quite simply because my current host sucks:

  • They treat you like you're stupid when you ask something in their support forums (I mean come on, replying to a question with only "No" is NOT the way to treat your PAYING customers.

  • Charging 7 euro's for a simple change of a password is just 'tarded.

  • Blaming me for their shitty security holes. Ha fucking ha.

I hear complaints from them coming from everywhere. My advice is:

STAY AWAY FROM E-DENTIFY

Thanks for your attention, now, join me on www.MichelMaas.tk -- Same Shit Different Destination

Edit: Lol, they even remove messages from their forums if they don't like them. I said it cost me 7 euro's to edit my password, poof, gone this morning. Crap company.

Boredom does strange things to a man

Well I done do it again. Installed World of Warcraft. Well, installing as we speak.

It's not like I didn't see it coming. It's vacation, I'm bored and heh, still got to get my shaman to 70, no?

Past few days I've been printing and burning some stuff to dvds. I got the full Ultimate Matrix Collection now, a whipping 10 DVD9s, and season 1 and 2 of Monty Python's Flying Circus on DVD. If anyone knows where season 3 and 4 might be found, please inform me.

Also labeling all of my Wii titles with some nice labels. Woo~

That's all for now, let's hope I'll be able to come back from WoW!

Please visit my blog and comment there

I am using the Hyves feature of importing blog RSS feeds. I love it when you read it and comment, but please comment on my blog's site (http://www.axalian.nl).

Apart from it being nicer than Hyves, it's my personal homepage where more stuff about and by me can be found, and which I visit/update more often .

Thanks :D

Pretty much sums it up.

Lets face it; Creationists aren't the brightest ones in the genepool.  Don't know what the creationists believe? Here's an excellent explanation about the differences between the creationist and the scientific method:

Awesome

Also, why can't they just believe God created evolution? Helluvalot more impressive than creating just some species; create an ever-evolving lifeform. That's basically what man is trying with artificial intelligence, a self-improving piece of software.

Freedom is the right of all sentient beings

I went to see the Transformers movie yesterday, and it was everything I hoped for and much, much more. It was like I visited my past, grabbed my favorite cartoon, dipped it in a bath of 2007 and splashed it on the big screen. It was so awesome. Even the little things, like occasionally you'd hear the classic sound of transforming, but not too obvious because, let's face it, it's a ridiculous sound. But an oh-so-cool one.

In the movie they give --reasonably-- acceptable explanations for some of the things the transformers do. Such as, why do they look like cars etc. I won't spoil anything for you, but if you get to see one movie in the cinema this year, make it the Transformers. You won't be disappointed. It's a long movie too, but I would've settled for 3 more hours easily. It's just that good.

Now Michael Bay, please, make another one?

That's all for now. Autobots, roll out!

Smartshop getting smarter soon?

So I applied for a job at a local smartshop today. They also needed some people for their HQ, some stuff with computers. And seeing as how I'm good with computers, I though, bring it on :)

I hope I'll hear something from them =3

Currently cleaning up my HDDs. Downloaded the full Matrix Ultimate Collection, 9 DVD9's and one DVD4.7. I mean wow! To see what's on them, "Click Here".

Now I have to find the money to buy DVD9s >_> AND new DVD4,7s. A 100Mbit connection is cool, but DVD's are expensive xD

Oh well, that's enough for now. Gotta clean the fridge now. It's full of those damned rabbits.

Assesment

Well the assesment was today, and it went perfectly. I got accepted into Creative Technology, and they loved my Flash XML CMS (which I used for my portfolio).

I also installed a new version of imageveux in my gallery, which I also modded to my own liking.

"Click me", said the rabbit to Alice. "Alright", she said, "but don't trick me like yesterday!"

Portfolio, it be finished!

Yes it is true. My portfolio is finally finished, and you can visit it here:

"CLICK ME", said the rabbit to Alice.

Now I will be releasing the FXC (see the post below) in the coming days. For now, it's bed time and I have an assesment tomorrow. I'll post how it went tomorrow.

Night night, little bunnies.

Portfolio Manager

I had to make a portfolio for my school's assessment. Now I could make a plain ol' paper one, but since my specialization study will be Creative Technology, I figured I couldn't do this.

Instead I decided something more... sophisticated. Thus my Flash XML Content Management System was born. Let's call it FXC, shall we?

My goal with this project was to make an application which can be fully customized using XML. You can specify data, and the application displays it in a visually appealing way.

Now the technical side of the application is finished. Well, finished enough for my assessment Monday, but I wanna add an extra level of customization before releasing it.

When it's done for my assessment, I'll show it to you of course. I consider this my most advanced CMS yet, it probably is. I'm loving it :D

Current features:

  • You can specify different XML content sheets, for instance, for allowing quality settings, different galleries, etc.

  • You can make categories, which are selectable in a main screen.

  • Each category is configurable with imagery and sound

  • Inside a category, you can have links. The links are represented by bug-like movieclips, which you can also specify yourself

  • Each category has the following configurable items:

    • A background image and for animation, a blurred version of the backgroun

    • A colorset

    • Music

    • The animated movieclip

    • The links to content, with status text and hoverbox text

    • Probably much more in the released-to-public version

So stay tuned for the release, and preview, of FXC :)

Edit: Also, what's always nice, is having the room full of musical goons while you have to work for school -_-

Madness? THIS. IS. STRESS!!!

God, how stressful the last week was.

4 days of coding from 09.00 till 01.00 are a bitch. Yes they are. But our project got finished (will update with pictures later).

I started work on an AS3 demo of TUIO. When that's finished, i'll make one which doesn't need FLOSC. Yes, I rock ;)

Check back often!

My FTIR/ReacTable journey begins!

Today I finished my 1st test setup. It was pretty basic (about as basic as you can get), involving a glass plate, a garbage bin bag, a modded webcam and a fiducial created with ducktape and plastic. And it worked. It worked!

Tomorrow I will try it out with a beamer. Sgonna be fun to build up, since I got no materials at school :P
